Our #1 Tip For Bringing Fresh Spring Branches Indoors

We know that Spring is here when we see the pops of bright yellow Forsythia blooms against the still barren trees. But don’t think you can only enjoy the blooms when you’re out and about in nature.

This is one of our favorite branches to bring indoors because of its color and vase life!

The fiery yellow blooms will last up to 2 weeks in a vase on your kitchen table or mantle. All you need is a heavy vase, clippers and a few branches of Forsythia to create a beautiful Spring arrangement!

Here is our #1 tip when you are foraging blooming bushes and trees from nature:

When cutting any fresh stem you always want to cut on an angle so the stem can easily drink up water. With any branch-like stem, you need to go one step further because of the toughness of the branch. After cutting on an angle, run your clippers vertically to make a few cuts directly up the stem. If you have a really thick stem that won’t cut, use the end of your clippers to roughen up the base of the stem. These hardier branches need this in order to absorb enough water to keep the blooms alive.

Remember to refresh the water every couple days and recut the bottom of your stems for the longest vase life!
