How to Host a Friendsgiving Party

Friendsgiving is all about togetherness, gratitude & of course yummy food. It serves as a wonderful excuse to get your besties together and have a laid back celebration! Because we have such a soft spot for intimate gatherings, we wanted to load your plate with some inspiration so you can feel confident in hosting your own dinner.

Set the tone

Start off by welcoming your guests with a warm invitation! Any good gathering starts with the comfort of knowing what to expect.

We absolutely love a Fall color palette that features golden, coppery tones contrasted with dark hues and light blushy/white neutrals.  Have fun with setting an inviting tablescape using seasonal flowers and autumnal accents.

Don’t be afraid to bulk it up with lots of layers. Beautiful blooms can make any gathering feel like a special celebration! Light some candles and throw on your favorite playlist to complete the ambiance.

Food & Drinks

Don’t feel like you have to cook a Thanksgiving feast from scratch for such a casual setting- just lean on the traditional recipes you love and throw a fun spin on things!  Creating miniature, “finger food” versions of your favorite Thanksgiving foods can set a more laid-back vibe.  Pick up a pumpkin pie from your local store and use a cookie cutter to create individual pieces displayed on a cake plate.  Or wrap up turkey, stuffing and gravy into a crescent roll and top with a garnish!

Complete your menu by focusing on a delicious (and festive!) signature drink like this apple cider sangria instead of worrying about having a fully stocked bar.

Don’t feel like planning out a whole menu? Go potluck style and have each person bring a side or heck have it catered by your favorite local business or grocery store!

Activities

There are so many ways to enjoy each others company and create a memorable party!

Have each guest bring their favorite record for a record exchange & have fun spinning each one throughout the night.  A favorite idea of ours (of course) is to enjoy making fresh flower crowns and take lots of pics! Your guests can hang the crown in their homes after the party and enjoy the mini-wreath as it dries! Or simply honor the reason for the season by taking turns writing out what you’re most thankful for to display while you eat.

A Friendsgiving could be as simple or as over-the-top as you would like, but truly all that matters is everyone being together:)

If you now have a craving to host an intimate gathering like this, The Flower Cottage still has availability this November and we would love to help you create a beautiful party!
