Staying Ahead of the Trends: Learning Floral Wearables with Passionflower Sue
While we’ve been loving the chance to share our floral knowledge with budding florists, it’s just as important that we keep growing ourselves! One of our favorite things about floral design is that there are endless ways to achieve a look and so many different approaches to mechanics and design. What works perfectly for one designer might not be the right fit for the next, and over time you discover the techniques that feel most natural to build on.
Another big reason we continue to seek out education is because wedding florals are constantly evolving. Modern, artful designs are becoming more and more popular in the bridal scene, and we want to be ready with creative options for our adventurous couples. We’re seeing so much innovation in bouquet design especially, and we want to make sure we’re offering fresh, on-trend ideas that feel exciting and unique.
That’s why we were so excited to travel to the Mayesh Cleveland branch for Passionflower Sue’s wearable workshop. Sue is such an innovative designer in the floral wearables space, and it was inspiring to learn how to create artful, fashion-forward pieces for modern couples who are ready to try something different.
Sue’s teaching style was approachable and fun, and we got to play with gorgeous blooms until our hearts were content. As a bonus, our work was modeled and professionally photographed, which made the experience even sweeter! (Scroll down to see our creations!) This was our very first attempt at this technique, and we’re already dreaming of the day when a client is ready to experiment with these statement-making designs.
What we love most about wearable floral pieces is their versatility. Imagine this: your bridal bouquet during the ceremony could later transform into a striking headpiece for the reception. Or maybe that bouquet finds a second life as part of a one-of-a-kind cake display. And of course, wearables aren’t just for the bride…wearables can embellish a suits lapel for a unique boutonniere or how fun would it be for your wedding party to rock statement floral earrings?? Possibilities are endless!
Bethany created a head piece and statement earring that looked like one piece…so fun!
An artful bouquet doesn’t have to be reserved for weddings…how about a photoshoot??
Cloe created a beautiful bouquet with so much movement…
and how amazing does it look as a head piece?!
Julie’s head piece definitely stole the show!
Imagine this on a suit lapel…such a unique boutonniere option!
And Sarah’s bouquet transitioning from bouquet…
to head piece…this would be INCREDIBLE for a photo shoot! That hyacinth framing the eye wow!
Learning these skills reminds us why we never stop exploring new trends. The wedding world is full of couples who want something fresh and unexpected, and we’re so excited to bring these modern, artful designs to life. If you’re dreaming of florals that go beyond the traditional bouquet, we’d love to create something unforgettable for your day!!
